Dana serves as the Associate Vice President for Enterprise Business Information Technology at The University of Texas at Austin; responsible for the University’s financial, HR, payroll, and research business technology in partnership with business leaders across campus. The University is in the process of modernizing the business systems, processes, data management, and technical architecture to allow the university to continue to grow and innovate in a sustainable environment, directing more resources to our core mission of teaching, research, and service. Areas of responsibility include application technology systems, testing/QA, security, accessibility, help desk, operational support, training, user support.
Dana’s 28 year career includes a variety of roles at the University of Texas at Austin starting as an Application Developer. Dana has held leadership positions in central IT, Facilities Services, Human Resources, Financial Information Systems, and the Administrative Systems Modernization Program. Initiatives led include the development of the Human Resource Management System (HRMS), University Portal, Financial Information Systems, Research Administration Systems, Space Utilization, the creation of IT governance for Administrative IT, and leadership of the University Developer Training Program. Dana is a former instructor at UT Austin on Facilitation. During 2012 and 2013, Dana joined the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts as a Director responsible for the development, implementation on and support of such systems as the PeopleSoft Statewide ERP (CAPPS), Treasury, Statewide Fleet operations, USAS, SPA, HRIS, TINS, SPRS and USPS.
Dana has contributed to a variety of efforts to promote the strategic use of technology in higher education; most notably the book “Innovation in Student Services: Planning for Models Blending High Touch/High Tech”.
Throughout her career, Dana has volunteered her time and professional skills to assist in the streamlining of operations at a variety of organizations including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Edwards’s University, the City of Austin, Ford Motor Company and the University of California, Berkeley. She also led the creation of the UT Austin IT Excellence Endowment in honor of her late mentor, Cathy Lester.
Dana received an MBA from St. Edward’s University and BBA in Management with a minor in Marketing from The University of Texas at Austin. Dana is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), certified facilitator, certified in training facilitators, and ITIL certified.
