TASSCC Annual Conference Supports Jonathan's Place - August 2010
TASSCC Annual Conference attendees donated $5000 to Jonathan’s Place. Jonathan’s Place is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that depends on the generosity of the community to help us give abused and neglected children the opportunity to be a child.
Since 1994, Jonathan’s Place has been taking care of the youngest members of our community that have suffered the trauma of abuse. They are an emergency shelter for abused, abandoned and neglected children, age newborn to 17 years. They are the only licensed emergency shelter in the Dallas area that serves children under the age of ten (10).
Jonathan’s Place is a temporary home for these youngsters, with the key word being home. They have 14 bedrooms, with 2 beds in each room, and a 4-crib nursery. They take care of all the children’s basic needs, including food, clothing and education, and advanced needs, including medical, dental and psychological.
Jonathan's Place is also a Foster & Adoptive Family Program - recruiting, training and verifying foster, foster-to-adopt and foster families. They then place children from Child Protective Services and our emergency shelter into their care. All families in the Foster & Adoptive Family Program have access to the services provided at the Jonathan's Place emergency shelter.
